I am sorry I have not posted in so long it has been a long haul for me. I have had my right knee totally replaced and have been healing and doing intense therapy so I can get back to work. I have done one small project lately an ATC swap but I have done nothing for the store sorry to say.. Hopefully I can get back at it soon.

Some Auntie Em's Pretties..

Well if I can part with them... I really like how these came out. I made them for the Emporium... I will try to get them posted in the next two days...

These are some of my favorite flowers, twisted ribbon roses. I really like that they can be 3 dimensional with out all the bulk. I also made some Stick pins. This is what happens when I can find my table I get all creative... So here they are

I love how the gold and pink flower came out. I added an antique gold button to the center.

The two bright pink and white lace have antique pearlized buttons.

The white flower has a button that I took of an old coat of my grandmothers.

So when I say they are antique buttons, I am not talking of the color. The buttons I have saved for years most came from a jar my grandmother had which I inherited.

The Pins were fun to make I use a varity of techniques and as you see styles.

The only common link is the adhesives I use the Helmar 450 Quick Dry and The quick Fix Ahesive Runner. On some of the Pins I used the Helmar Two part Crackle Medium... and did I get a suprise when I dried it with my heat gun... If you are careful you can dry the mediun to wonderful cracks...But if you over heat it it will bubble and puff and crystalize and make snow flakes look so awesome.... You will know when it flashes....after it bubbles let it cool for a few seconds then carefully but firmly push the medium back to the paper. I warn you if the medium is still hot it can burn you so please becarful when using this technique.

9 days to Christmas

Wow, Time is really flying by this year. I really feel like doing some thing in the spirt of giving so here is my idea.

Tell me what Christmas means to you in 30 words or less. I will then add everyones name in a bowl and draw one person to win a nice Christmas gift from Me and the Store.

A card making Kit from many different companies. Kit encludes 5 cream and 5 white 5 1/4 x 3 1/4 book fold blank cards, and a mix of all the fun stuff needed to make some real pretty cards, mini flowers, sequins, brads, charms, buttons, bling, a gift card envelope. 5x7 sheet of corigate, a sheet of unknown cool paper white takes ink well and a mini stamp set with acrylic stamping block.

If we get over 10 entires I will add some sweet ribbon and trims. if we get over 20 I will add some inks.

What a crazy day

My box from the Auction came in but it was missing things I really wanted like 5 sets of Maya mini chipboard flowers, my 9x9 bracket shaped mini album covers and my O-wires for my Bind-It-All. I did get that all solved and all is good now.

In my fustration I actually cleans another "SPOT" in my Craftroom. If you look real close you can see the paint on the wall and below that there is an open spot on the table... YEA!! me.

But don't get to excited I already filled it with my stamp binders... :)

I then got a crafty bug in my bonnet and made tags for the cookies I am making to give as a gift at work. They are made with Queen Kat Designs Stamps, are they not the sweetest!! I do love them.

I used Versa Color Lapis Lazuli and Color Box pigment ink Chestnut. On the snow flake tags I also used Stamp Stuff Star Dust Embossing powder. The white was punched with a Martha Stewart border punch and the red card stock was cut to 2 1/4" x 9", scored at 4 1/2" and folded. I punched the whole with the cropadile and added natural hemp sting to complete the tag.

Wow what a long week

I don't know why some weeks seem to feel longer than other but this was the longest week I can remember for quite some time... I hve been waiting for two packages one is my Valentines paper for the Febuary Kit and the other box is a box of misc. goodies for the store as well as my new quilling kit... and some ranger alchol inks to play with... so much excitment but not enough time to play with it all. I will post some of the goodies tonight after I get a chance to go thru the boxes.

I am also planing a crop in January and if the weather hold my friend Jenny will come and teach us some fun stamping projects.

Embossing my love...

Emobossing 101, Where to start...

ok first you need a heat gun. I am not about brand names I am about saving enough to buy the powder as well as the gun in the same visit to the store... just make sure it gets hot enought to melt the powder. There are a lot of guns out there buy the one that fits your hand.

I bought a Marvey model 2500, wow that sound empressive but it is a basic gun no bells and whistle, cost me 15.99 on sale. I love it.

The embossing powder, The only type of powder that I am picky about is my clear detail powder I perfer Ranger's Super Fine Detail Clear. This I use for fine detail stampings and words... It is the first powder I tried and I am hooked... but I own lot's of powders and they are from all different makers. I love them all. I do have to be honest I do not have any pastels... I am not a pastel girl, but I am trying.

Inks are important you need a good ink that will stamp with detail and not smear. I use the Color Box fluid chalk and Versa mark mostly they seem to be able to deliver the cosistancy I want.

Other tools I keep a soft bristle art paint brush for cleaning around the detail, I use my Cricut dental looking tool to hold smaller items from blowing away and I keep two sheets of clean paper with me one to stamp on the other to put the stamped object on so I can collect the excess embossing powder and poor it back in the bottle.

Depending on the ink you use you will have to work fairly fast so your ink does not dry before you apply your embossing powder. Also keep in mind the wetter the ink pad the better if you have to press hard to apply the ink it will show when you add the embossing powder. try to keep the ink on the raised parts of the stamp.

Ok first technique is very basic

gather your supplies, Make sure gun is plugged in. Then ink your stamp, stamp your image, add embossing powder poor off excess powder tap lightly. then look to make sure now excess is sting around the edge of your design. If all looks good then heat with the gun. You will see the color change. I was amazed the first time. Do remember the heat gun puts out HOT air and will burn you and could damage the surface under your project the work surface. I use a poster board covered with a teflon sheet. also do not hold the heat in one place to long it could scorch your paper.

In the photo I use a light grey ink for contrast so you can see the steps 1 ink, 2 add powder poor off excess, 3 heat you can see the difference between the three.

To add other effects, like multi colors and to thicken the embossing while the item is still hot sprinkle small amounts I use my fingers so I can drop it where I want it to go and rehaet if needed.

One last tip cut small scraps of paper to try different effects. Not all powders will work foe all projects like this next photo.

I tried puff embossing (the purple), a metalic gold and a ranger distressed embossing powder. As you see the purple looked good but did not respond well. so sample your ideas on scrap paper and try different techniques. But Most of all have fun with it!

Remeber embossing is your friend...and It is very very easy!

Embossing..

I have been embossing for about two years and I have to say I emboss everything. From brads to chip board, cards layouts even paper cut outs I love the look of an embossed piece.

Since learning to emboss I have found myself searching for those chip board letters and flowers we all loved to paint and cover with paper a few years ago. I am one of those impaitent people who need products like Helmar Quick Dry and Zapdots so I can creat as fast as my brain thinks. So when I found out with a clear ink pad and the small bottle of powder I could trans form my chip board in to little pieces of art I was hoojed. The best part is I don't have to wait for them to dry. I can't Stamp, cover with powder poor off the excess, heat and stick all in about 2 to 3 minutes. Then if I want to bling them I can do this right on the layout.

So if this sound like fun check back on thursday and I will share the art of embossing.

Tools you will need are
1. heat gun I bought mine on line paid about 19.00 for it so you don't have to break the bank on the gun.
2. Embossing Powder I use all types and manufactures. I keep clear detail on hand all the time I use alot of it, and I buy other colors as I need to add to an order or I happen to be at a craft store.
3. Clear ink pad I perfer the Versa Mark Watermark stamp pad but anyone will work to get started. I have a few because I get impaitent and I keep one as a grungy pad it has all kinds of ink on it from me being impaitent.
4. Color Ink PadsI have no perference. I just love color
Gather these supplies and I will take you thru the steps of embossing on thursday.

here is the difference between just stamping a sentiment and adding embossing powder.

I like how the letters pop after you emboss them. Opp's I kind smeard the ink a bit.

Here are different techniques I like to use whether on chipboard, paper or to add dimension. I hope this peak your courisoty because I love embossing!

Adding demition without adding debth is always welcomed with ATC's.

make a simple card stock cut out amazing...

The things you can do with the closeout chip board will amaze you.

Here one of my Favorite things

I love to make shadow box mini album covers. I have given many away as gifts. I have been making these for a while now and realy love how the look from basic to all out embelished they are super yummy in my eyes.

My first one was a recipe book I made for me but gave it away in a christmas swap..

I have made a few since but my next favorite was our vacation mini I made this last summer..

I have had several people ask me where I get the albums Which leads to the tutorial I mention on facebook..

Here it is a simple 6 x 6 baby album. I did not fill the shadow with item because I want it a rattle with cute little flowers and pearls that move around inside.

instructions...

you will need

4 sheets heavy good quality Card stock
1 .007 Craft plastic sheet
1 6x6 decorative sheet of card stock
2 6x6 piece of chip board or piece of a food box cut to size (i.e. cake mix box, cearal box, or any other type of food box)for the base of the front and the back cover
hole punch or Bind-it all or anyother type of binding machine (you will need 1" to 1 1/4" binding wires if you use a binding machine.
Misc decorations to put in your shadow box
Helmar Acid free glue and Helmar 450 Quick Dry or Helmar Zapdots

inside
3 12 x 12 sheet of off white card stock
6 tags if you make pockets

Start buy cutting 4-12" x 12" pieces of good quality card stock in 6" x 6" pieces.

Then I go to my trusty Cricut and aline one of the 6x6 pieces on the lower part of the cricut mat.

I then feed it into the machine and move it down 14 spaces and over 1space. Then choose my desired shape from the george and basic shapes cartridge. depending on what I am making I cut the shape 2 1/2" to 3 1/2". The rounded rectangles I cut at 2 1/2", the hearts at 3 1/2" but cut what you want. repeat this step for all 16 6x6 pieces of card stock. make sure to line them up the same and move the machine to same distance for all the 6 x 6 pieces.

If you want a decorative cover cut it the same size as the card stock and use the same cricut directions as above.

puch the wholes for your binding in all sheets and cover before you glue it together.

Cut a piece of .007 craft plastic to 5" x 5"

adhere two sheet of the 6x6 precut and punched together adhere the 5x5 craft plastic to these two sheets set aside to dry.

adhere the remainig sheets together forming a thick stack makeing sure all edges and corners are glued well rub to release, any air bubbles between the papers.

after all sheet are glued together smooth well and check to make sure all punched wholes line up if not use a tool to open the wholes.

Decorate your shadow box using quick dry glue or zapdots, making sure to stay below the top. when all is in place and dry. adhere the top to the stack making sure to glue the edges of the paper as well as the edges of the craft plastic so you get no bubbles. Place a heavy book on the cover and let dry 24 hours to make sure you paper has fully dried to the craft plastic.

Take the 3 sheets of off white card stock cut them in 1/2 so they are 12 x 6, then fold them in half so they are 6x6 and using a glue runner glue the botton and punched sides this will leave a pocket at the top.

Since I give these as gifts I also cut tags to place in the pockets so the person can journal or add extra pictures.

After the book cover dries you can sand the edges smooth to give the book a finished look. Tie or bind the album together and embelish.

Whats the best part of opening a scrapy store??

You get to play with all the new stuff you order. Not that my craft room doesn't look like Micheals after a toranado already.... but Hey there is alway room for more...My husband may have to sleep on the couch but that is ok, right... haha

Anyways I recieved my order of Helmars Adhesives today and decided to give them the Auntie Em test. Which means I used them for purposes other than described on the bottle...lol

Here is one of my projects...

I used a BoBunny chip board frame, two colors of Ranger Distresses embossing powder (vintage Photo and Tea Dye, Color Box pigment Chestnut and Powderpuff Blue Hawaiian ink, Versamark or other clear ink, Daisey Bucket "Give Love Away" stamp, one ranger Swivel clasp with chain removed and Helmar's 450 Quick Dry and Glue runner. You will also need a clean dry paint brush to remove excess embossing powder, sanding block and some embelishments

start buy tracing and cutting the back ground paper just smaller than the frame. Use glue runner to adhere it to the paper to the frame, sand to remove any excess paper showing beyound the frame. Carfully ink frame with versamark clear ink, sprinkle lightly with vintage photo emossing powder leaving some white space. Make sure to clean around inside edge of frame with paint brush so no embossing powder is stuck on the back ground paper poor excess on to a piece of paper and put back in container. Heat frame until embossing powder is set and let cool a few minutes. Then re-ink with versamark and sprinkle with Tea Dye embossing power and heat set again. Ink your stamp with the Chestnut ink and stamp message on background paper. Now rough sand your frame then ink with the Hawaiian blue ink. let dry a few minute. after all is dry quickly cover the flat surface of the frame with the 450 Quick Dry Adhesive add embelishements and let dry.

The 450 Quick Dry not only seals the frame but gives it a metalic look.

I do like this stuff can't wait to test it some more...

How pretty are these...

Do you like homemade tags that double as an Ornament?? Well I do. These sweet things are a blast from the past From the 2008 Card Makers magazine December Issue.

I used papers from the November Kit of the Month, My Cricut and George cartridge, A good adhesive runner and quick set glue,hemp twine, my all purpose sanding blocks (1 fine/med and 1 course grit), corner rounding punch and misc. charms and stickers.

It all starts with a bag like this.I have many of these by season and color. I admit I hoard my paper scraps. Using the scrap bag choose what you want to use.

to start cut 12 - 2 1/2" cylinder shapes (george cartridge letter F with shift lock on) I used 100 lb card stock with the machine set on max pressure. If you don't have a Cricut cut 12 - 1 3/4" x 1" strips and round the corners.

I used the tape runner to glue these in stacks of three, to give the shape debth(make sure you line them up well). You should end up with 4 stacks of three.

Cut off the rounded end just about 1/8 of an inch or less. I eyeballed it and then sanded to reshape the corners.

Now cut the base Pieces 3 1/4" x 3 1/4". I added a piece of card stock to the back to the give the tag/ornament some stability.

The second layer (coragate) 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" I used the cricut to cut this. Just so you know a stardard cricut blade only scores the coragate (oops live and learn)

Using a dark brown ink pad ink the edges of both layers. If you roll the coragate as you ink the wavy side it helps get the ink into the groves.

choose a layer for the white pieces we cut earlier. I use card stock to cover them but you can use pictures, stickers, decorated tissue papers. In my example I traced the shape and cut out two pieces to not fits so well.Using my corse sanding block I roughed up the edges.

Being careful not to tear the paper or sand your fingers sand the edges holding the sanding block so you can sand in and up and down motion using only the edge. To get a rough sanded edge on your paper.

Now ink lightly but only in an upward motion so you creat a shadow not a dark edge.

now you can added your embelishments. to the two small rectangles. Then adhere to the lower two layers using a good adhesive so they last for years to come.

After your tag/Ornaments dries add your hanger I used hemp twine but you can use ribbon, wire or any other type of hanger you choose.

November Kit of the month

I was playing with some of the paper from the November Kit and Decorated the cover.. I think my Mother-in-Law would love and album chalked full of family pictures.

The BoBunny chipboard swirls and rinestones do not come in the kit.

Here is some of the paper in an album I made for my Mom. The difference here is I used recycled cardboard and added some cool christmas embelishment I had left over from last year.

I also added some cool Cosmo Goodies to the Store. One of my favorites is the black board Letters. I love the latter because the are so easy to decorate. I Love to dry emboss them and paint them here is one fun project I did just for the fun.

There paper is so far from the red and pink but it is way romantic... al I have to say is Mmmm Mmmm Yummy. They also have a set of vintage stickers I sooo want... I am in the process of setting up an account. Boy I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Things are getting exciting here!! I have been getting ready to post items for sale as well as buying supplies to sell in the store I have decided to sell the suff I really love...paper, adhesives, bling and Kits. I will open with a November Kit that will be a mini album that would be a wonderful gift as a project for a friend or for yourself either way this will be a wonderful way to share your memories. I will post the Album Kit and the price on or just before the 19th.
